Equestrian. Attorney. Author. Storyteller.
I grew up in the mountains and deserts of the Southwestern United States as the daughter of an exploration geologist. For as long as I can remember, my parents taught me to be proud of my Irish heritage and I grew up longing to know more of my ancestral homeland. They also instilled in me a love for adventure, which I never lost and which ultimately acted as a catalyst for my writing.
As a young adult in the 1980s, I came out as a lesbian and witnessed first-hand the devastation of the AIDs epidemic. I was proud to participate in marches against inequality and was thrilled to be a part of the emerging lesbian presence in American society. Eventually, I graduated from the University of Denver College of Law and I worked as a trial attorney for many years until I took a position as a Legal Editor with LexisNexis. I held that position for over a decade until the changes in online legal research necessitated a restructuring of the industry.
Around that time, I felt a strong pull to return to my adventurous and unconventional roots. Notwithstanding the loving protestations of those around me, I made the bold decision to follow my heart and passion in the pursuit of competitive equestrian show jumping. Today I am the proud owner of a successful training and coaching equestrian business operating out of Tucson, Arizona.
In 2016, a trip to Ireland with my parents awoke within me a desire to explore more of what it means to be Irish, especially being Irish from abroad. That trip was just the beginning of a much larger evolution in my life. A few years later, I returned to Ireland, this time alone. During that mystical, life-altering trip, it became clear that my next reincarnation would be as a storyteller.
